Dribble Happens — But Stains Don’t Have To!

Our Bibbilyboo dribble bibs are designed with super-absorbent bamboo fabric and a soft waterproof backing — perfect for catching dribble, reflux spills, and everyday baby mess. But mealtimes? That’s a whole different ball game.

We don’t recommend using Bibbilyboo bibs for feeding or bottle time, because stronger food and milk stains can cling to the soft cotton fabric. That said, we totally understand that real life doesn’t always follow the rules — and that sometimes, baby spits up milk or solids right after their bottle, or sneezes a spoonful of purée mid-giggle.

Here’s how to avoid stains in the first place — and what to do when those inevitable oops-moments happen.

💡 First: When to Use Your Bibbilyboo Bibs

Our bibs are perfect for:

  • Teething dribble

  • Acidic saliva (hello, teething rash prevention!)

  • Reflux or light spit-up

They’re not ideal for:

  • Bottle or breastfeeds

  • Mealtimes or weaning

For those messier moments, we recommend using our full-coverage waterproof feeding bibs which you can find here --> CLICK!

🌱 But If a Stain Happens… Here’s What to Do (Naturally!)

Accidents happen. Whether it’s a splash of formula or food, reflux episode, or a stubborn yellow patch from acidic dribble — there is a natural way to lift stains from your bibs (or any baby clothes, really!).

✨ The Sunlight Trick: Our Favourite Natural Stain Remover

Step-by-step guide:

  1. Cold Rinse Immediately

    • Rinse the bib under cold water as soon as you can.

    • Avoid hot water — this can set the stain permanently, especially for protein-based messes like milk or dribble.

  2. Gentle Wash with Baby-Safe Detergent

    • Pop the bib in your usual wash with a non-bio detergent.

    • Avoid bleach, stain sticks, or harsh whiteners — they can damage the bamboo fibres and reduce absorbency.

  3. Lay Flat in Direct Sunlight

    • Once washed, lay the bib flat in direct natural sunlight — ideally outside or on a sunny windowsill.

    • UV rays from the sun have natural stain-lifting properties and help to gently bleach out yellow, orange, or brown marks over a few hours.

  4. Repeat if Needed

    • For stubborn stains (like reflux or formula), you can repeat the process over 2–3 sunny days.

🌞 Why Sunlight Works

UV rays break down the chemical bonds in common baby stains — particularly those caused by:

  • Acidic saliva (from teething)

  • Spit-up or reflux

  • Formula

  • Weaning foods (like sweet potato or banana)

It's completely chemical-free, safe for baby's skin, and works beautifully on stained clothing too.

🧺 Bonus: It Works on More Than Just Bibs!

This trick can be used on:

  • Baby vests and sleepsuits (think Poonami's!)

  • Muslins

  • Cot sheets

  • Even those dreaded baked bean stains (yes, really!)

🫧 A Few Final Tips:

  • Rotate bibs during teething phases to prevent marking.

  • Avoid tumble drying stained clothing, as high heat can set stains and reduce the waterproof performance over time.

  • If you're dealing with reflux daily, consider wet wipes to keep the surface clean and changing regularly throughout the day.

With a little love (and a lot of sunshine), your Bibbilyboo bibs will stay looking fresh and fabulous — just like your little one.
