BIBS FAQs
What size are your bibs?
Dribble Bibs:

Our bibs are designed to have a snug fit, to prevent dribble getting in at the collar. We recommend fastening on the tightest stud with a space for one adult finger to fit between the bib and neck. If you have a petite or premature baby, please leave a note in the comments when ordering to request an extra stud which we cab happily provide free of charge for a perfect fit.
If you find that your baby is getting wet when wearing our bibs, this is usually because it doesn't fit tightly enough at the neckline, so please check the fit and adjust accordingly.
Feeding Bibs
One size - from 6 months (recommended weaning age) until approximately 2-3 years, depending on the build of your child
Do I need to wash the dribble bibs before use?
It isn't essential to wash before wearing, but you will find the absorbency is improved once they have been washed. Avoid fabric softener if possible, as this can reduce absorbency.
It is also normal to see some shrinkage in jersey cotton fabric after its first wash, especially if washed at a higher temperature than advised. If this occurs, they can be ironed on low after the first wash and you should find this restores the size and shape of the bib.
Are your dribble bibs actually waterproof?
Yes - they are made from a specialist polyester fabric with a baby safe waterproof coating, making them fully waterproof, not just water resistant!
This means they remain breathable, preventing perspiration and skin irritation/rashes, without being a rigid crinkly plastic backing. Our waterproof fabric is tested to ensure it is free from harmful chemicals, leads, phthalates, dyes; securing an Oeko-tex Standard 100 testing badge (meaning they are designed specifically for babies and safe to be worn against their skin!)
How often should I change my babies dribble bib?
Our dribble bibs are designed to last longer than most. All children are unique, however most children will require only 1-2 of our bibs a day compared with approx 5-10 ordinary bibs. The combination of thirsty bamboo in the core and the waterproof backing will mean less changes are required and never any wet clothes if worn on a snug stud setting.
We always encourage you to use your own judgement on what saturation you are happiest with, but rest assured, even a fully saturated bib will not soak through to clothing.
Are bibbilyboo dribble bibs made for bottle feeding/meal times?
No - our dribble bibs are designed to tackle teething dribble only and are not made for weaning or bottle feeds. The soft jersey fabric is just like clothing and may stain or develop mould if absorbing organic particles and worn for extended time. For meal times we recommend using a waterproof and wipeable bib such as our full coverage feeding bibs - you can view the range here. See below for information about avoiding mould on bibs.
We understand our bibs have a premium price point and that is because they are designed to last for longer periods and reduce bib changes; offering you value for money; however if you feed your baby whilst wearing our dribble bibs you would need to change it straight away and won't be getting that value.
If you accidentally stain your bibs, as we know children can be a little messy; you can try a stain remover, however the more gentle method of using direct sunlight is free and effective. eaving the stained bib in direct sunlight to naturally remove stains has worked brilliantly for us and it is chemical free! Cold wash the bib first and then leave in a window or on the washing Line until the stain has lifted. This has worked wonders for us with baked beans stains on clothing and even works in over cast day light! Read our blog here for more details!
How to avoid mould on bibs
Mould is something that can naturally develop on any fabric when it is damp or contains organic matter, such as baby sick, food, milk, or dribble. It doesn’t reflect the quality of your bib, but rather the conditions it has been exposed to.
Because bibs regularly catch organic particles and are worn against warm bodies, this creates the ideal “food source and environrment” for mould spores (which are always present in the air). In warm and humid months, these spores multiply faster, which is why mould is more commonly seen in Summer when wet clothing sits in warm laundry baskets or washing machines.
To prevent mould developing:
- Wash or rinse soiled items promptly after use.
- Don’t leave damp items in a laundry pile for long periods, in warm places.
- Dry thoroughly, ideally in sunlight or with good airflow.
- Store in a dry, well-ventilated place.
With regular care, mould can be avoided, and your bibs will stay fresh and perfect for everyday use.
If your baby suffers from reflux, as ours did, there will naturally be food particles caught by the bib. We advise to wet wipe away any surface level reflux, or if it is liquid and soaked in, rinse and change the bib to avoid mould developing. We recommend washing soiled bibs same day.
Already developed mould?
Unfortunately this happens on rare occasions in warm conditions, but here are some care tips that may help remove the mould and prevent it from affecting other bibs or clothing:
- Treat existing mould: Soak the bib in a solution of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio), then wash as normal or try an antibacterial fabric detergent soak. Sunlight is also a natural disinfectant, so drying in direct sun can help.
We recommend disposing of bibs that don't respond to treatment for best hygiene.
Feeding Bibs
Ensure that food is not left on the bibs for prolonged periods and when cleaned, hang to dry so that both sides of the bib can allow trapped moisture to evaporate. Wipe down or rinse after meals with either a soapy wash or an antibacterial spray and ensure they are machine washed regularly for a deeper clean.
