Our Story: How Bibbilyboo Was Born From Real-Life Dribble Dramas

Like many great ideas, Bibbilyboo was born out of necessity — and a lot of washing.

I’m Katie, mum of two and founder of Bibbilyboo, and if you’ve ever found yourself changing bibs and outfits on repeat, wondering surely there must be a better solution, then you’re exactly who I created Bibbilyboo for.

Life With Very Dribbly Babies

Both of my children were heavy dribblers, something I quickly learned is far more common than people talk about — and yet surprisingly poorly catered for in the baby product world.

My first child, Grayson, had an immune deficiency and was prone to chest infections. Constantly damp clothing from dribbling wasn’t just inconvenient, it was genuinely worrying. A wet chest, especially in cooler months, felt like an unnecessary risk when his health was already fragile.

Then came Penelope.

From just two months old, she dribbled constantly. On some days, she could get through 20 bibs, several vests, and multiple outfits — all before bedtime. Her chest was permanently soaked, the washing machine was never off, and the tumble dryer felt like it lived permanently on.

Aside from the cost and exhaustion, I couldn’t ignore how wasteful it felt. Buying huge quantities of bibs and spare outfits, washing them constantly, and still never feeling like we were on top of it, wasn’t good for our home — or the environment.

Why Existing Bibs Just Didn’t Work

I tried everything on the market.

What frustrated me most was that so many bibs simply weren’t designed for real-life dribbling. Many were:

  • Not absorbent enough

  • Triangle-shaped and bunched under the chin

  • Causing chafing, redness, and aggravating eczema

  • Curling up at the bottom

  • Soaking straight through

Even cuddles became an issue — dribble would transfer through the bib and onto clothes anyway.

I kept thinking: Why does this have to be so hard?

The Moment Everything Changed

Eventually, I realised that if I wanted a bib that actually worked, I’d have to make it myself.

I bought a sewing machine, taught myself how to use it, and began researching fabrics obsessively. I wanted something that was:

  • Properly absorbent

  • Completely waterproof

  • Soft against delicate skin to prevent rashes

  • Comfortable enough to wear all day

After some failed attempts, tweaks, and redesigns, the first Bibbilyboo waterproof bib was born.

And for the first time, clothes stayed dry.

From Kitchen Table to Award-Winning Brand

What started at my sewing machine quickly grew into something much bigger. Parents started telling me they were using just one or two bibs a day instead of ten or more. Washing piles reduced. Going-out bags got lighter. Babies stayed comfortable.

That’s when I knew Bibbilyboo wasn’t just a “nice idea” — it was a genuine solution.

Until 2024, every single BibbilyBoo bib was made here in the UK by my own hands. I personally sewed over 65,000 bibs myself. As demand grew, we made the decision to work with a trusted overseas factory that could meet the same high standards I had set from day one and help us to scale with the growth we were experiencing.

Quality has never been compromised. Our designs are still developed here in Great Britain, using premium fabrics and award-winning features that parents trust.

Designed to Last (and Be Passed On)

Sustainability has always been important to me. Bibbilyboo bibs are made with a bamboo core, chosen for its superior absorbency and natural antibacterial properties — and because it’s a more eco-conscious option than polyester fleece.

Our bibs are designed to last, often being passed down to siblings or friends. Fewer bibs, fewer washes, less waste — and a product that truly earns its place in your baby essentials.

Our eco waterproof backing is also guaranteed for 200 washes, which enables them to last lower, even shared between siblings!

The Bibbilyboo Promise

Bibbilyboo was created to rid parents of what I lovingly call “dribble dramas.”

Our bibs are:

  • Ultra-absorbent

  • Fully waterproof at the back

  • Gentle on sensitive skin

  • Designed to reduce bib and outfit changes dramatically

They’re practical, stylish, and designed by a mum who’s lived it.

If Bibbilyboo saves you even a fraction of the washing, changing, and stress it saved me from, then I know I’ve done my job.

Thank you for supporting our small UK family business — it truly means the world.
